Position: Medical Office Assistant Reports to: Office Manager J. Duties: Welcome incoming patients to comfortable setting. Answer phones & direct callers to back-office staff as needed. Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned that may incl. checking schedules & organizing patient flow. Sched., coord. & confirm appointments. prep. new patient documents & enter new patient information, Assist patients w/ initial paperwork. Collect & verify insurance information. Performs intake triage, vitals, & assists patients w/ health screenings. Documents as apropos vitals, screening & patient history personal information as needed. Collects blood specimens & urine specimens for drug screens & documents findings. Use medical software to spt. all transactions. Update all information in EMR system Interview patients for case histories prior to appointments. Update & maint. patientsοΏ½ health records. Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned that may incl. setting up equipment according to dept. protocols, cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, & equipment betw. patient visits to maint. infection control. Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned incl. respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients &/or staff w/ immed. supervisor. Fulfills clinical medical assisting responsibilities that vary according to state law, wh. may incl. medical asepsis, checking vital signs. Provides coordinated care to variety of patients enrolled in our programs, & functions as part of interdisciplinary care team by providing education & case mgmt. directly to patients, & spt. to Providers. Provides office svcs. by implementing administrative systems, procedures, & monitoring administrative projects. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned. Performs other duties as deemed necess. by supervisors; & other duties as assigned to spt. P. HealthcareοΏ½s Mission, Vision & Values. When needed & as apropos, interview patients to determine their needs & refers them to apropos community agencies & svcs. (i.e. housing, legal aid, emergency shelter, domestic violence, employment, adult education, food/clothing, etc); Provides spt. to Providers & coordinates medications requests for refill. Coordinates all logistic spt. to dept., incl. supplies & equipment. Ordering, sorting, storing supplies; & restocking office supplies. Abides & sustains workflow expectations est. by supervisor. EDUCATION &/or EXP.: 2+ yrs. of exp. in Medical Front Office Must have high school diploma & Medical Assistant certificate Exp. wk'ing. on electronic medical systems (EMR), preferably using Practice Fusion or ICANOTES. Valid Maryland DriverοΏ½s License Ability to pass criminal background check. CPR/First Aid Certification QUALIFICATION REQ'S.: Be passionate about patient care Wk. efficiently betw. calls & in-office patients. Strong interpersonal communication & Excellent verbal & written skills Ability to wk. independently w/ strong sense of focus, task oriented. Ability to wk. w/ culturally diverse families & communities w/ ability to be culturally sensitive, apropos, & non-judgmental.
